As Tottenham Hotspur prepare to take on West Ham tomorrow night, Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has discussed the possibility of youngster Alfie Dorrington featuring for the first team soon.

Despite failing to win in four games, Spurs will go into the clash with London rivals West Ham feeling rather positive after picking up a point against Manchester City at the weekend in thrilling circumstances.

A spate of injuries and suspensions had depleted Ange Postecoglou‘s squad severely, in particular, the loss of Micky van de Ven to injury and Cristian Romero serving a three-game suspension.

These absences saw the likes of Emerson Royal, Ben Davies, and Eric Dier filling in at centre-back in recent weeks. Romero is back for the West Ham game, which is a huge boost for Spurs.

However, young star, Alfie Dorrington, has found himself on the first-team bench of late, and many fans are hoping they will get to see the 18-year-old in action soon.

Dorrington could feature in the near future

Speaking to the press (via Football.London) today, Postecoglou touched on the situation regarding Dorrington, and revealed that he may well get his chance soon.

He said: “He’s been in the squad the last three to four weeks so we’ve had plenty of time to look at him. Him and Jamie, who got on last week, have been part of the first-team squad.

“We’ve still got a lot of injuries but we’ve got a lot of games ahead so [Alfie] could get his chance in the weeks ahead.”
