Het Nieuwsblad reports that Union Saint-Gilloise has placed a €15 million (£12.8 million) price tag on Koki Machida following Tottenham’s declaration of interest in the center back.

Over the past 12 months, Machida has established himself as one of the most reliable defenders in the Belgian top flight, and Spurs, who are searching for reinforcements in central defense, appear to have taken note of his performances.

Given the 26-year-old’s remarkable development, it was reported by 90 minutes last week that Tottenham is thinking of making a move for the Japan international in January.

According to the outlet, the management of the Spurs believes the former star of the Kashima Antlers has the physical makeup to play in Ange Postecoglou’s aggressive backline.

For Koki Machida, Tottenham will have to pay £12.8.

Het Nieuwsblad has now confirmed Tottenham’s interest in Machida, stating that the North London team believes the player would be a perfect left center-back backup to Micky van de Ven.

Nevertheless, they claim that because of how important the defender is to Union SG, they do not want to lose him in the middle of the season, and Spurs will have to “dig quite deep” to get him.

The Premier League team is reportedly going to need to make a bid of €15 million (£12.8 million) to persuade the Belgian team to release Machida.
